50,000. Miles on the Tahoe.
50,000. Gray hairs I gained from Flossie’s children in the past three hours.
The challenges of travel with two mobile, inquisitive younglings has been a…good experience ? The back seat looks like Nora the Tasmainian Devil struck…oh, wait…she did.
We stopped at the west end of Glenns Ferry for snacks, a couple westbounds, and sticking out our tongues in the rain. I do not know where these kids pickup these things
.
We are cruising on I-86, about 20 miles outside of Pocatello. We will head east out of Pokey, then pickup US-30 and head over to Soda Springs, where we will then head north on our way to Jackson.
Both kids are napping now…ahhh my sanity slowly returns.
We stopped in Beaver to use the restroom, and the gas station happened to have a tire shop. One of the techs happened to walk by and noticed the left front tire had a problem. An hour later, we were back on the road with four new tires. I had been planning on new tires this summer as we will hit 50,000 miles on the Tahoe soon, but the front tires both had the tread separate and expose the belt.
We arrived in Panguitch around 8 last night after a pleasant drive from Sandy. We tried dinner at a Subway an hour earlier with mixed results with the kids. Nora looks to have picked up pink eye from daycare, as her right eye goobered all afternoon and evening. She finally napped about 20 minutes from Panguitch, so we unpacked the crib and plopped her in — one kid snoozin, one to go.
Tyler was a different story. At 11:30 I finally went to bed with him still awake, although checking on Nora a bit later, he was out.
We awoke around 8, cleaned up Nora’d goobers and ate a hearty meal at the Flying M cafe. Tyler ordered 13 (2) eggs and ate them all, plus most of a huge pancake.
The drive this morning has been beautiful, although Nora’s eye has been bothering her some.
We pulled out of garage at 08:34, heading over to drop Eros off at the doggie hotel (Ralph and Nicademous have a babysitter — Sabrina — and her canine/feline pals Oliver n Sherman). We zigged south toward Kuna, then east to I-84 under rain showers, with ~50 degree temps.
We stopped in Mountain Home for fuel, getting back on the road shortly after 10:00. Roughly 600 miles to cover to reach our destination today — Panguitch, Utah. Tommorrow, we jet down to Flagstaff, Aeizona where we run into my family for my cousin’s graduation from NAU.
