It was partly cloudy with snow flakes mixing in here and there to start the day, and not a hint of a breeze at all. Flossie only made it a few runs before her back began bothering her, so she called it an early day. Tate, Laura and I continued hitting the runs as the snow flakes continued to fall. The sun would pop through for a minute, then quickly slide behind the clouds. We started making our way down the hill around 3:30, and coasted down the residential access run, kicked out of the boards, and it was a short hike back to the condo and hot tub !

Activity Details for Snowboarding 2010 - Park City Resort - Day 1.

Saturday is an off day (more hot-tubbing), then some exploring around town. We will be back up on the mountain Sunday, with a few more inches of new snow in the forecast.

The day started calm and clear as we explored around the base. As we moved toward the Pioneer lift, the wind picked up and clouds moved in. We headed back toward the base for lunch, Tate narrowly avoided a skier and wound up on a nice steep slope, detouring him from us for 45 minutes.

After lunch, the winds slowed the Zephyr lift, but we eventually made it up to Mary Jane where we found sheltered runs, powder, and fewer people. We made a few runs on some nice blues, and made our way back to the base.

For dinner, we tried to walk up to the Moffat Station Brewery and Restaurant, but our green ways were thwarted, so we hoped in the car and eventually made it. We enjoyed a few pitchers of Hells Half Acre Lager spread throughout appetizers, salad bar, and steak (then Laura ordered cake). We waddled back to the car, zipped home, and finished with a relaxing adventure in the hot tub as the wind and snow pelted the patio -- a very wintry scene indeed.

Our destination lies 750 east, southeast of us in the Rockies -- Winter Park, CO ! Tonight, we knocked off 340ish miles and grabbed a room in Ogden, with 400+ to cover tomorrow as Tate and Laura set out from Chadrock to join us. Then, after a tasty meal (and generous libations) we will retire to our Condo on the mountain. Friday, we'll cook up some grub, then mosey a few steps to the lifts and begin tearing up the groomers.
